This is a small online book-selling business based in Bristol, Vermont, USA. As a small business it is not very profitable but it's fun and helps keep this retired old man out of trouble. We also have the satisfaction of recycling a lot of books that would otherwise end up on the scrap heap.

We apologize for the fact that, for various reasons, you cannot order directly from this website (we'll explain that later). But bear with us. Finding a book that you can enjoy, or from which you might possibly profit/learn, is worth the work.

Now on to business.

In the short time that we have been selling books we have found that there are two distinct types of book buyers. We call them the “Bloodhound” and the “Browser”.

The Bloodhound knows exactly what book they are looking for and they go looking directly for it. Searching by author, title, ISB number or keyword. At this point we would suggest to any Bloodhounds here they should go right to the paragraph below headed BLOODHOUND.

For the Browser: A person that enjoys perusing stacks of books; going up one aisle and down another; holding books in their hands; reading the jacket descriptions and endorsements, we are afraid this website cannot help you very much. That is, we are not yet set up for browsing. (Except be sure to read on for a few, somewhat browse-able, possibilities.

For Browsers in our Five Town area, (i.e.- Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro); if you don't find what you are looking for here, we would suggest visiting RECYCLED BOOKS OF VERMONT on Main Street in Bristol or MONROE STREET BOOKS on Route 7, north of Middlebury. For Browsers outside this area, there are many small scale and large scale bookstores still out there. Happy Hunting.

This is a very small scale operation (we currently have an inventory of roughly 7,000 books). Consequently, for lack of $ and time, we have found it more feasible to list our inventory through an established online broker (Abebooks) rather then setting up this Aboxabooks website to show our complete inventory and enable book purchases here. So, knowing exactly what you want, you should go directly to Abebooks.com and enter your information in their search section. That will show you all copies of that book that they have listed. Ours may be among them and, if so, you will find that we are very competitive on price.

But, before you go to Abe, you may wish to keep scrolling down to see other possibilities below. Who knows? Your quarry might be down there somewhere!

If you are neither Browser or Bloodhound but just interested in what-the-heck we're up to, here is what to do.

Go to www.abebooks.com.

In the red banner, click on "Booksellers".

Under "Search by Name/Location", type in "aboxabooks".

Our store name "aboxabooks" will show up at the bottom of the page.

Click on that link.

Then, at that site, click on "List this seller's books". That will show you all books we currently have listed and you may order from that site.

NOTE: The names Aboxabooks and Abebooks are quite similar but both are distinctly separate companies. Our site (Aboxabooks) is a small operation here in Bristol. Abebooks is a global book broker that handles listings from thousands of booksellers like us. Since we currently cannot sell books directly from our website, (except as noted below), we list books through Abebooks.

The benefit of listing books with Abebooks is that they are able to present the books to millions of readers worldwide. The downside is that we must pay them a fee for each book sold. That, plus packaging and shipping costs, means that listing a book with Abe for less than $4.50 is not economically feasible. So you will find that, for the most part, our listings with Abe are non-fiction such as textbooks, professional books, medical books, etc and very little “light” reading.

However, for some light reading, carry on.

We recently acquired over 30 Nancy Drew mysteries. All hardcover. All in very good condition. Six of Louis L'Amour's famous westerns from Bantam Books' classy-looking collection of the 1980's. Covers with gilt stamping on brown simulated leather over padded boards. All in very good condition with minimal wear. Titles are: The Daybreakers, The Sackett Brand, Mojave Crossing, Sackett's Land, and Sackett. All 5 for $30 plus free shipping. Would make a fine gift to a lover of westerns.

We have numerous Vermont Life magazines, and also Vermont Magazines, going back many years. In various conditions; but no junkers.
